WORKSHOP – INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP FOR YOUNG, MULTICULTURAL AND ETHNIC LEADERS

On Saturday, April 27th, the Diplomacy, Security and Defense Research Organization Association organized the debut event of the Erasmus+ project “Inclusive Leadership for Ethical and Multicultural Future Youth Leaders” (ILED-EMFYL).

The aim of the workshop “Inclusive Leadership for Young, Multicultural and Ethnic Leaders” and the course accredited by the Romanian College of Psychologists – “Psychology of the inclusive leader – Psychological needs of leaders working in a multicultural environment” was to equip the participating psychologists with applicable information and techniques to promote inclusive leadership in various contexts. The main objective of this event was to help psychologists understand and respond effectively to the cultural and ethnic dynamics they encounter in their work, recognize and address unconscious biases, improve their empathic skills, and develop strategies of intervention adapted to the specific needs of leaders from multicultural environments. This knowledge is essential for psychologists to be able to contribute to the development and support of young leaders in assuming leadership roles in a responsible and ethical manner.

Also, the participants had the opportunity to learn more about the importance of developing entrepreneurial skills among young migrants, the obstacles encountered by them, as well as the opportunities at the national and European level in order to achieve entrepreneurial aspirations, through the presentation “Entrepreneurial skills among young migrants, in connection with learning leadership and management skills, including”.

Last but not least, we were honored to have with us two experts in the field of migration and asylum, who shared their vast professional experience. Mrs. Dr. Alexandra Bucur-Ioan, director of the Bucharest Regional Center for Procedures and Accommodation of Asylum Seekers within the General Inspectorate for Immigration, offered an in-depth perspective on “Current aspects in the field of migration and asylum”. Mr. Preda Eugen-Bodgan, national coordinator of the Department of Integration within the Romanian National Council for Refugees (CNRR), also shared the significant results of the project “CDMiR4Ukraine – Raising awareness of human rights and equal treatment for Ukrainian refugees from Romania”, organized through the Active Citizens Fund Romania program, financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants 2014-2021.

In conclusion, this workshop represented a defining moment within the Erasmus+ project “Inclusive Leadership for Ethical and Multicultural Future Youth Leaders” (ILED-EMFYL). It provided an essential platform for the development and strengthening of inclusive leadership skills, while facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experiences between the participating psychologists and the experts present. Participants were not only informed, but also inspired to apply the practices discussed in their professional activities and the communities they belong to. Efforts to bring to the fore the importance of entrepreneurial skills for young migrants, but also of understanding the dynamics and psychological complexity of leaders in a multicultural context, mark a step forward towards creating real and tangible opportunities for young people in vulnerable situations.

Thus, the event was not just an academic meeting, but a demonstration of how theory and practice can go hand in hand to support the formation of a more equitable and inclusive future. In an ever-changing world, adaptability and openness to diversity are more necessary than ever, and initiatives like this are vital to fostering these values among tomorrow’s leaders.
