DIPLOMATIC PSYCHOLOGY IN ACTION

This book presents, in its five parts, relevant aspects of the use of diplomatic psychology in real life.

This volume brings together the works of some graduates of the postgraduate program “Applied Psychology in Diplomacy and International Relations”, organized by the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Bucharest.

Thus, in the first part, entitled “Diplomatic Psychology in Action” are presented some lesser known facets of diplomatic psychology, such as: wartime diplomacy, consular diplomacy, the impact of gifts in the diplomatic act, the importance of diplomatic skills in international relations, etc.

The second part, entitled “The significance of the psychological profile in the diplomatic environment” brings to the reader’s attention a series of practical-applied aspects related to the role of knowing the interlocutor in the diplomatic act.

The third part, entitled “Psychology of communication in the international environment” draws attention to how important communication is for the success of diplomatic activity.

The fourth part, entitled “The Psychology of Adaptation to the International Environment”, presents a set of practical examples of international cultural diversity, focusing on their specificities, which could play a key role in adapting the diplomat to his workplace overseas.

Part Five, entitled “Diplomatic Psychology in International Relations,” invites the reader to take note of a number of historical and contemporary examples of the role of diplomatic psychology in the success of diplomatic actions.

The work continues the series of psychology books already published, proving that Diplomatic Psychology still has much to say in the architecture.
